Spartan is a designation referring to genetically enhanced supersoldiers within the Halo universe. The most well-known Spartan is likely John-117, commonly known as Master Chief.
The Spartan program was created by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) to create soldiers capable of combating the Covenant threat. The original iteration, the Spartan-II program, involved kidnapping children and subjecting them to rigorous training and augmentation procedures.
